Brigadier’s 105th Birthday

The preparations are underway ready for Brigadiers 105th birthday party in the garden on Sunday. The Marquee has been erected and the Gardner is busy making everything look just that little bit more perfect.

Everyone at The Grange would like to wish Brigadier Purcell a very happy birthday and hopes he enjoys the celebrations. Brigadier has kindly asked everyone residing at The Grange to join him for drinks to celebrate.

Look out for some pictures and a small feature of Brigadiers life and accomplishments in Septembers issue of the Goring Gap Magazine.

Royal Wedding Party

The grange is hosting a Royal Wedding Party with all lounges decorated in theme and a traditional buffet lunch served during the service.

Drinks will be served all day throughout the celebrations.

All Family Members and Friends are more than welcome to attend.

Nametags

The Grange & Lyndhurst can now supply iron on name tags for our existing and new residents clothes courtesy of a company called ‘My Nametags’.

My Nametags helps care homes manage residents’ clothing better, by permanently labelling all clothing. There labels are used by a large number of care homes and nursing homes and have been used by more than 750,000 users. The labels carry a 10 year washing guarantee so guarentees clothing is distributed to the correct person.

Garden Development

I am very pleased at the quality and progress of the flowers we have in The Grange’s garden this year. Already we have most beds full of colour and variety. I must congratulate Batista the Handyman/Gardener for all his tremendous effort and skills, he truely does have green fingers.

I posted a blog last year about the new greenhouse for residents to particiapte with the potting and care for the plants, and I am very pleased with the progress and effort made by all our residents. I have uploaded a photo for everyone to see of the outside patio beds and greenhouse.

The Grange has recently branched in to providing permanent Day Care services.

We can provide help with washing, dressing, personal care and would include all food and drink for the time spent here.

Dignity in Care Day

Everyone had a lovely day here at The Grange, with lunch at the local pub and Magda’s delightfull hand massages. Unfortunatly due to the bad weather we didnt quite make it to the Garden Centre.

Dignity In Care Day

The Grange is holding a ‘Dignity in Care’ day in line with the national Dignity Day on Friday 25th February.

Several members of staff are giving up their day off to take residents out to the local cafe for morning coffee, walks along the adjoining river Thames, lunch at one of the local pub restaurants and to the Chiltern Wyevale Garden Centre in the afternoon.

Magda is also spending the morning in the lounge, giving out hand massages to anyone that wants to be pampered.

Halloween

We thought we would do something different here at The Grange & Lyndhurst this year and decorate the houses for Halloween!

It was a mad dash to buy out the local supermarket of most of its Halloween Decorations but it paid off. The Lounges and Dining Rooms were covered in spooky spiders and creepy insects, not to mention all the pumpkins that the Residents had previously carved.

British Theme Food Week

The Grange has decided that between 15 – 21 November, We will hold a British Themed Week for the whole menu. I am hoping it will be a success and that maybe in the future it is something we can do often. It brings variety to the menu and the residents lives. I am hoping to prepare dishes that reflect what the Ladies & Gentlemen would have cooked at home. So far I have all the basics covered such as; Cottage Pie, Haggis, Hot Pot, Apple Pie and many more British Classics.

I am hoping the residents will enjoy it and it will be something we can continue with at both homes in to the future.
